Millionny Bridge

Prospekt Mira

Millionny Bridge, officially known as Rostokino Aqueduct, is a stone aqueduct in Moscow which was built in the days of Catherine the Great. The construction of the bridge was several times interrupted and lasted about 25 years.

It was completed and put into service only in 1804. The construction cost of 1,648,000 roubles was enormous back then: that is why Rostokino Aqueduct is popularly known as Millionny Bridge. Back in the day, this bridge was a truly grandiose construction. In 1785, Catherine called it the best construction in Moscow, as it "seems as light as a feather... and is very robust."
