Russia, Samara, Volzhsky Avenue, 10

Samara embankment (more than 4 km length) is a cascade of beautiful terraces descending to the Volga beaches. In summer the promenade becomes a favorite place of citizens and guests of Samara, here numerous local holidays and festivals are held. Fountains, flower gardens, sports grounds and creative areas, cafes, amusements, bikes and rollers rent - everyone will find something for himself! One of the main attractions is the unique musical fountain. In the evenings it works at full strength. Fountain jets are lit, and magic melodies can be heard from the adjacent loud speakers. The fountain fascinates and set a romantic mood. Maybe that's why playground beside it is a favorite place for romantic dates and friendly meetings. After you enjoy the music and admire the coloured jets, you can climb to the square of Glory to see the Volga and ships passing through it from height.

From June 29 to September 15, 2002, Samara embankment was the venue for the Earth from the Air exhibition by French photographer Yan Arthus-Bertrand. Samara became the first Russian city, which hosted this photo project. At the fourth stage of the embankment, near the "Boat", on 62 special stands 120 works Arthus-Bertrand were located (120x180 cm), annotated in two languages. Also the large outdoor world map (15x20 m) were presented and 12-minute film about the work of the photographer. Entrance was free, and in two and a half months the exhibition was visited by about a million of Samara residents.
