Repinsky Fountain (aka Bolotny Fountain)

Bolotnaya Square

The fountain, installed in 1948, opposite the famous House on the Embankment near Bolotnaya Square, was officially named "Bolotny". But it is better known as the "Repinsky" Fountain – named after the eponymous public garden located nearby where the monument to the painter Ilya Repin is situated. The classical-style fountain is made of granite and cast iron.

An interesting fact: the fountain basin was cast in German guns of WWII intended to be remelt, and the fountain itself was built by German prisoners.
