Clown Fountain

Tsvetnoy Boulevard

The "Clown" fountain was erected in 2002 on Tsvetnoy Boulevard. It is located in the square opposite the Old Moscow Circus. The fountain is dedicated to circus theme and represents a sculpture of a clown on a unicycle. The sculpture is situated in a basin, out of which more than a hundred jets of water are constantly squirting, changing their length. The clown holds an umbrella fitted with jets spraying water into the air.

According to the fountain’s sculptor Zurab Tsereteli, this art composition gives the impression of raindrops falling on the clown. It should be noted that visitors of the Old Circus and locals often rouge lips of the clown’s sculpture. They believe this highly exhilarates Tsereteli’s fountain.
