The Rostov Kremlin state museum-reserve is one of the largest museums in Yaroslavl Oblast, located within a world-renowned architectural ensemble of the 17th century. There are about 200,000 items kept in the museum's collection. There are icon paintings of the 13th–19th centuries, works of Russian painting of the 18th–early 20th century, Rostov enamel, works of decorative and applied arts, and archeological finds.
The museum includes the Rostov Kremlin with its main exhibitions, the Museum of Rostov Merchants (the estate of the Kekiny merchant family), the Children's Museum Center (the house of the Koperiny merchant family), and the church of John the Apostle on the River Ishna (17th century).
Visitors are offered original sightseeing tours, master classes at the Green Band Art-studio, bell-ringing concerts, the Living Antiquity music and craft festival and the Rostov Performance monastery cultural festival.
