For the first time, the question on the creation of the nature reserve in the Anyui river basin was raised by V.Arseniev, who has investigated these places in 1926 and has noted the uniqueness and riches of the local flora and fauna. In January 2001 by the decision of the Head of the Khabarovsk Krai administration, an especially protected natural territory of the federal importance was formed. It was called the «Anyuisky» National Park.
The purpose of creation of the national park in the Anyui river basin was preservation and restoration of the natural complexes, biological and landscape variety, the improvement of protection and reproduction of fish resources, hunting-trade kinds of animals, rear and disappearing kinds of animals and plants, preservation of their habitats, maintenance of the traditional kinds of nature using, tourism and recreation development.
The Anyui river basin occupies the area of 12,7 thousand sq.km and is located in the central part of the Khabarovsk Krai and in the Nanaisky region.
The Anyui river takes its beginning in the central part of the Sikhote-Alin mountain system and runs into the mouth of the Naikhinskaya strait.
The river length makes 393 km. The basic tributaries are: Dymni, Podi, Gobilli, Tormasu, Moadi, Manoma.
