The Arts Gallery of European and American Countries of XIX-ХХ centuries is one of the stages of “museum town” creation on Volkhonka street about which Ivan Vladimirovich Tsvetaev has dreamed meaning unique space which builds up special cultural environment of Moscow. Considerable part of the gallery exposition was completed based on private collections of XIX - beginning of XX centuries (I. A. Morozov, S. I. Shchukin, S. M. Tretyakov and many others) being a tribute and gratitude to remarkable collectors and patrons who applied maximum efforts to enrich cultural heritage of Russia. Artworks created by representatives of all major flows of XIX-XX centuries European art (from “Nazareans” and artists of Paris Saloon to fauvists and abstract artists) are exhibited in 26 halls of the gallery. Creative artworks of the most famous artists (Monet, Cézanne, Gauguin, Matisse and Picasso) are presented in the separate halls.
