Museum Preserve of History and Culture «The Siberian Route» is the only museum beyond the Urals devoted to the history of the Siberian Route. The museum collection contains unique exhibits which open up the pages of history of construction of the longest in the world road for horse-drawn vehicles, of the settlement and developing of area of the river Irtysh.
The museum contains more than 7,000 items; there are collections of ethnography, numismatics, pieces of art of the Soviet period, applied art objects and historical documents. At visitors» disposal there are eight exhibition halls: A.B. Ribin Picture Gallery, diorams «On the Eve of a Great Construction» and «The Siberian Route», exhibition «Decembrists and Siberia», house chapel dedicated to the Icon of the Mother of God “In Search of the Perishing“, ethnography complex «Russian Hut» where you can find pirogi (Russian traditional pies), blini (Russian traditional pancakes) and traditional beverages, historic library named after A.S. Kozhemyakina, a souvenir shop and others. In addition to excursion and exhibition activity, the museum staff is occupied with developing of a touristic route «The Siberian Route, the Road of Great Scientists, Travelers and Convicts» nearby from historical settlements situated along the road, which are hamlet Forpost and village Stanovka.
