The museum of music and folklore of the people of Yakutia began his activities in January, 1990 fr om collection of exhibits. And in January 29, 1991 it was transformed by the order No. 24 of the Ministry of Culture of Yakutia in the republican museum. The idea of the famous yakut musician Aiza Petrovna Reshetnikova about creation of the museum first was supported by the Yakut choral society. The museum sets as the purpose promotion of knowledge of traditional culture, folklore of Yakuts, Evens, Evenks, Yukaghirs, the Russian old residents, and also achievements of professional musical art of the republic accumulated by science. Uniqueness of the museum is that here musical instruments aren't just exhibited, photos, books — during the excursion the musical code of archaic culture reveals, the proximity and typological unity of traditional outlook of the people of Yakutia reveals. The existing musical museums propagandize, generally composer music wh ere folklore is provided only by tools. Pride of the museum is creation of the first feature animated film based on olohkho of P. A. Oyunsky on the basis of reference execution of G. G. Kolesov In the museum regularly there take place thematic exhibitions, recitals and scientific conferences about which it is possible to learn on the website of the museum.
