It is one of the youngest creative team in Omsk. The originality of creative research of the Fifth Theatre is determined by desire to discover new names of young talented playwrights and their works without theatrical fate, along with productions of national and classical foreign plays.
The theatre was founded by theatre director S. Rudzinskiy.
Such directors as Anatoliy Praudin, Sergey Puskepalis, Ivan Popovski, Boris Tseytlin, Andrey Lyubimov, Oleg Yumov and many others have already embodied their ideas on the stage of the theatre.
The Fifth Theatre took part in such festivals as: The Thousand Faces in St. Petersburg (1993), International theatre project Theatre With No Limits in Magnitogorsk (1997, 2007), The Real Theater in Yekaterinburg (1999, 2005), Pushkin’s Scene in Moscow (1999), Golden Horse in Tyumen (2001),International Pushkin Festival in Berlin. It is a nominee of the Russian National Theatre Award the Golden Mask-2016 for performances The Old World Story by N. Gogol, directed by M.Glukhovskaya (2001) andOddballs (Chudaki) by M.Gorky, directed by A.Praudin (2006). The Fifth Theatre is an organizer of various cultural events and the International Festival Young Theatres of Russia.
In 2009 with the assistance of The Ministry of Culture of the Omsk Region, the Fifth Theatre organized regional Siberian Let's Play Gogol Festival, dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the Gogol’s birth.
Among the most prominent performances of the theatre which interested not only spectators, but also theatre critics are tragedy The Poisoned Tunic by N.Gumilev's; The Old World Story and Marriage by N. Gogol, From Red Rat to Green Star by A.Slapovsky, Tverskoy Boulevard by I.A.Bunin, The Geographer Drank His Globe Away by A.Ivanov.
