The national art museum of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) was founded in 1928, it is the largest art museum in the northeast of Siberia. The Museum fund constitutes 17 354 storage units. Classical Russian art of 18 — the beginning of the 19th centuries is present by works of VA. Tropinin, I. K. Ayvazovskiy, I. I. Shishkin, K.E. and V. E. Makovskiys, I. I. Levitan, A. I. Kuindzhi, K. A. Korovin, etc. In department of foreign art — works of N. Renyeri, J. B. Pittoni, Rembrandt, Duerer, Callot (the Italian, Flemish, Dutch, French, German schools are presented). The Section of art of the people of the East represents to art of China, Japan, Tibet, Mongolia 19th century. In department of domestic art enter creativity of art directors of Russia, the Baltics, Ukraine, South Caucasus, Belarus. The collection includes works of painters, schedules, sculptors, masters of arts and crafts and national art crafts. The most considerable part of a meeting — a collection of art of Yakutia 18-21st centuries — painting, a graphics, a sculpture, national and arts and crafts. The section of the Yakut carved bone — the trade known since the 18 century is unique. The collection of traditional national art is present by: art metal, woodcarving, products from birch bark, weaving from a horsehair, patterned sewing and a beaded embroidery on fur and fabric. Art of Yakutia of the 20th centuries is presented by all types and to genres, styles and the directions, includes monographic sections of art directors of Yakutia: A. N. Osipov; E. I. Vasilyev, A. D. Vasilyev; E.S. Sivtsev, V. R. Vasilyev, A. P. Munkhalov, B.C. Karamzin, M. A. Rakhleev, M. G. Starostin, I.E. Shaposhnikov and many others. The Museum has 4 branches in regions of the republic: Namsky, Suntar, Tattinsky and Bulunsky, except galleries, more than 10 virtual branches in the most remote regions of Yakutia function. In case of the museum the Center of museum pedagogics and children's museum theater studio work. Annually the museum carries out from 40 to 50 stationary and traveling exhibitions. Since 1998 the museum is a member of the international Council of the museums (ICOM), since 2001 — the member of the Union of the museums of Russia.
