The windmill of merchant Barkov is a unique architectural site from the second half of the 19th century. Barkov won the windmill in a game of cards and ordered to have it moved from the Pogromets village to Novoivanovka, on the bank of the Oskol river.
It is a wooden building of six floors. Every log is calibrated in size and diameter. With the passing of time, the larch logs have taken on a noble dark tint. The entire building is constructed without a single nail; everything is held together («stitched») with wooden dowels. Next to the main building of the windmill, there is an oak barn and other maintenance buildings.
The Novoivanovskaya windmill was decommissioned in 2004, and is now a state-protected monument of 19th century architecture.
