The Wish Tree appeared in the city in 2007 on the initiative of radio station Maria. It took just one month to build it which is a very short time to create a monument according to its author V. Seleznev.
The concrete Wish Tree is an oak with an ear on it. The height of the tree is 6 metres, the tree is 5 metres in diameter. This tree looks like a real oak due to skillfully made bark and 300 leaves which are 20-30 cm large. The leaves were cut out of iron with a laser, beat out by a blacksmith and fixed to the tree branches with the help of springs. Due to this construction the leaves start to tremble when the wind is blowing. That's why you can take the Wish Tree for a real strong oak with leaves trembling in the wind.
There is an inscription under the ear on the tree that invites you to whisper your wish to come true.
Radio Maria collected notes with wishes in a big box which was laid in the basement of the Wish tree. That's why the employees of the radio claimed proudly that the Wish Tree was grown on the wishes of local people.
