Kazan Cathedral is the main Orthodox temple of Kalmykia as evidenced by the image of an eagle on its tribune.
The Cathedral was built in 1996 on the site of Holy Cross Church, which was destroyed in the 30-ies of the last century.
The Church is conditionally divided into three parts: the Porch, where the parishioners pray, the central part of the Temple, where only priests are allowed, and the Altar part.
Under the dome of the central part you can see a dove, which symbolizes the Holy Spirit. The dove is made of stainless steel and covered with «titanium nitride». This technique is also used in the design of the iconostasis of the Temple.
