The Memorial complex to the City Founders consists of a statue of Nicholas the Wonderworker and the belfry. The monument is erected at the spot where the foundation stone “Glory to labor” used to be. This grey boulder of granite was installed in November 1977. The project design contest for the memorial sign on the central square was announced in 1990. The sign was meant to commemorate contribution of KGS (Soviet Construction Organization KuibyshevGidroStroy) workers to the city development. The monument dedicated to the founders of the city was established on November 5, 2004. The author is the honored artist of the Russian Federation, sculptor Alexander Rukavishnikov.
