Sculptural composition represents a high granite foundation on which the bust of General is located. There are eight concrete slabs behind the monument that say: «General Dmitry Mikhaylovich Karbyshev, a native of Omsk, showed extraordinary courage in the fight against the enemies during the Great Patriotic War. Being in Fascist jails and concentration camps, he kept the honor and dignity of the Soviet citizen, scientist and communist. Staying faithful to oath, a patriot preferred death to treason. Eternal glory to the heroes who fell in the battles for freedom and independence of our Motherland.»
The monument was created by sculptor V. Fedorov and architect Y. Krivushenko. The Grand opening of the monument to General Karbyshev was held on October 21, 1961 in the eponymous public garden in the center of Omsk.
