The river flows 142 kilometers but its basin area equals to 4140 square kilometers.

The whole of the river basin area is covered with the forest. The plenty of the mountain springs and streamlets give rise to the Partizanskaya River. Its large tributaries are Tigrovaya River, Melniki, Sergeevka, and Vodopadnaya.   Each of them is very picturesque.

The upriver has the winding course, rocky bottom, but the height of the banks is 1.5-2 meters. The river gets deeper downstream from the Vladimiro-Aleksandrovskoye, the bottom becomes muddy or sandy, cripples disappears, the flow gets slower.

Przhevalskiy visited the Primorsky Territory in 1860-ies in the course of the expedition wrote that the Valley of the Suchan River was the most outstanding by its beauty but the giant vertical cliff in 70 sazhens (150 meters) marked the point where Suchan′s outflow was located and where its valley began from.
