The Stele is located at the Korabelnaya Embankment in the city’s historical place where pioneering explorers landed. At this very spot a group of soldiers under warrant officer N.V. Komarov command who became the founders of the city, disembarked on 20th of June (2nd of July) in 1860.
The dismemberment place was chosen not incidentally. Just from this location clear vision of Peter the Great Gulf's mouth opens. That day the vehicle took 28 soldiers, 2 noncommissioned officers and warrant officer ashore.
The Stele to the City's founders was unveiled 125 years after in celebration of the City Day. This Stele is 14 meters high and it used to be the stempost of the «Manchzhur» vehicle. The given place of interest is of great importance and has historical value. History of the city and the most of the Vladivostok’s overviewing excursions begin here.
