The museum of Lena basin was opened in Yakut commander river college in 22 of April 1980. Initiator of establish of museum was Pavlov Alexander Sergeevich who came in Yakutsk from Aldan for study as a waterman. He took a huge part in founding of the Museum. After college he started work in Design Bureau of Joint Stock Lena River Shipping Company and during this time he also collect documents, photos, drawings, staffs, recorded fleet veterans’ reminiscences, made ship models and arts. Palvov was a director and guide in the museum a few years. The museum is interesting for students, local and tourist. Here visitors able to know about history of discovery of Lena territory by Russian Explorers, read some documents about history of work and warrior glory. The main exposition is models of ships XVII-XXI centuries. Here are placed elder koches, karbasses, schitiks, boats, paddle-boats, the first Lena diesel steamer ‘Pervaya pyatiletka’ and etc. Also interesting exhibit is biggest in museum model of streamer ‘Lena’ building in Sweden in 1878.
