The monument to A.S. Pushkin was erected in 1997. The solemn unveiling took place on 3rd of July. The famous sculptor Mikhail Anikushkin became the thought leader of the project. The monument was located in the Pushkin’s square. This square and monument itself were liquidated during the preparation to the APEC Summit.
The sculpture to the great poet was installed as the present to the city near the Pushkin's theater in 2013. Eduard Barsegov became the creator of this sculpture. The monument is made in uncommon style: poet depicts as not self-forgetfully reading his verses but with the slammed book in his hands. The immersion to the inner world and facial expression full of emotional contradictions are outstanding features of the monument.
The events to commemorate the dates of Pushkin's birth or death as well as many other events take place just at that spot.
