Bakhteyevskiye Uvaly Nature Reserve is located between the Tereshka and Kulatka rivers It is forest steppe with river streams and floodplains.
The Bakhteyevskiye Uvaly covers a total area of 14,330 hectares. The reserve features many rare species of plants, insects, and animals listed in the Red Book of the Ulyanovsk Oblast and Russia.
The reserve has a specially equipped area where you can observe the nature. The tourist route through the reserve includes a climb on the Karaulnaya Mountain, the Pionovaya Valley and the sacred spring of the icon of Our Lady of Kazan. The village of Verkhnyaya Maza stands near the nature reserve, where you can visit the museum of Denis Davydov. Here he used to spend his free time hunting with hounds or falcons, wrote more than twenty poems, as well as memoirs and articles on military history.
