The polytechnics» square appeared in Vladivostok relatively not so long ago, in 2010. According to the urban toponymy, the square received its name due to the proximity to the Far Eastern State Technical University's formed building.
The staff of the university offered the name of the square and also took upon themselves the reconstruction work and grounds maintenance.
The monument is dedicated to polytechnics who perished in the Great Patriotic War and also to the famous students, graduates and members of the university.
There are many trees and bushes in the square. In addition, there are the benches and free internet for visitors» convenience. St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church is located just a step away from the square.
