The monument to the romantic sailor appeared on one of the city's main streets — Okenskiy prospect — in winter of 2012. The maquette of the steel figure was invented by Leo Zelenev — the artist from Saint-Petersburg but Ilya Topchiy incarnated the idea in the sculpture. The monument is located on the roof of the house.
This monument is the element of the composition which is known under the joint name «Dvoryanskiy Dvor» (Noble Yard). The sailor depicts as the enamored romantic youth who is performing a serenade to the young ladies looking out the windows.
Pavel Shugurov-the city's key artist became the organizer and thought leader of the project together with the artists from the Creative Common «33+1» (Tridtsat» tri plyus odin). The main assignment of the project was to beautify the city with the creatively different monuments. Creation of new pictures and indoor sculptures is planned in the nearest future.
A Vladivostok's citizen set up a profile on behalf of the monument in the popular social network, following the example of another bronze blogger — Edic Moremanskiy. Under such name the monument to the sailors of the commercial fleets (The sailor who attracts luck) is known in the social media. Now the users are chatting actively discussing other monuments in the city and Vladivostok girls» mode of dress.
