On September 18, 2009 in Yakutsk the bust of the Russian and Soviet scientist, academician, specialist in the field of search, investigation, development of gas and oil fields Nikolay Cherskiy was opened. Since 1953 life and N. V. Cherskiy's activities are inseparably linked with development of the national economy, science and culture of Yakutia. From 1953 to 1955, being the chief of the Yakut geological management, he directed geological search and prospecting works on different types of mineral raw materials. Under the leadership of N. V. Chersky and with his direct participation the group of oil geologists proved and developed the new development plan for oil and gas search works owing to what in 1956 the Yakutia's first Ust-Vilyuysky natural gas field in young mesozoic mineralized fills with large supplies was found. N. V. Cherskiy took a huge part in science and economy of the republic. The bust is established in front of the Institute of mining of the North of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Science. The author of a bust is the sculptor Victor Fyod.
