The «Chaika» station is a former military base №5259, a tropospheric communication station. This junction center was a part of the «Sever» («North») tropospheric-scatter radio relay link-60 — a Soviet era communication system which was located along the Arctic and the Pacific Oceans, the Ob, the Yenisei and the Lena rivers.
The system was more than 13000 kilometers long and consisted of 46 tropospheric-scatter radio relay stations. The station should have been put into operation in 1965 but one of the antennas has fallen and the link has been put into operation in 1966. The station was disband in 2000.
Now the station is abandoned but is in a good condition. The station is accessible for tourists and residents of nearby cities and settlements.
