The opening of the monument took place in Izhevsk on the 15th of September 2010. Memorial is dedicated to fallen natives of the Udmurt Republic in Afghanistan, Chechnya and other local wars. The sketch was developed by the famous sculptor of the Udmurt Republic Vladimir Kurochkin. There is no exact prototype of the bronze soldier — it is a collective image of a soldier who served in the war. The bronze monument was made in Moscow, the height is 2 meters. Near the sculpture are also located two plates, on which are engraved more than a hundred names of fallen soldiers from Udmurtia, 83 of whom died in Afghanistan. The memorial is set in the park zone of the Palace of children and youth creativity.
