Primorsky Krai has six reserves, each of which has a unique character and attractiveness. The follower of the Sikhote-Alin Reserve, the Lazovsky Reserve invites everyone to visit its most secret corners and extraordinary places. In the place of accumulation of secrets and mysteries, everyone can conduct their own investigation of the origin of the rock structures, island yew plants and singing bays.
The Lazovsky State Nature Reserve named after Kaplanov is located on the Zapovedni ridge, which is the southern branch of the Sikhote-Alin mountain range. If speaking about inhabitants, there are about 60 species of terrestrial mammals, seven of which are listed in the Red Book. Among the permanent inhabitants of the reserve's territory are the Amur tiger in the number of 14 adults, about 210–220 gorals, 650 spotted deers.
And just a bit of history, at this nature reserve it has a number of key and important events. It received the first positive feedback and affirmation of its value and uniqueness back in the middle of the 19th century. The materials continued to add up at the beginning of the 20th century. The population here was low, despite this fact, the reserve received the legitimate status not right away. If talking about the stages of its development briefly, without historical dates, then the following picture is obtained: The South Ussuri Reserve, the Lazovsky branch of another seaside Sikhote-Alin Reserve, independence under the name of the Suzukhinsky Reserve, then after three decades it gets its current name, and in the end of the 20th century, the area of the territory has expanded considerably and the territory has officially become a guarded conservation area.
In addition, the beach areas of the reserve attract a large number of visitors every year. This pleasant vacation can be one of the bright memories of the summer season. Picturesque lands, untouched by civilization, bring a person alone into another world with the sea at hand and the amazing nature around... If desired, everyone can find their own type of beach. Petrov Bay is one of the main attractions of the Lazovsky Reserve. Here, everything came together for a perfect holiday by the sea, pure white sand, a coastline about a kilometer long and 200 meters wide.
Moreover, fans of vivid impressions should take a walk along the Singing Sands Bay. Many people become curious about the meaning of such an original name for a coastal territory. One ancient legend is associated with this place. The story has it that a young daughter of a fisherman, who always met her father from fishing, sang a sad, lyrical song while waiting. One day the father didn't return from fishing. The loving daughter didn't believe it and, despite all the arguments, continued to come to the sea. The sand was sad along with the girl, and after a while it began to repeat her song. And even now, under certain weather conditions, it repeats its unpretentious melody whistling.
The secret is that white sand emits strange sibilant sounds under your feet, but only if you step on it with bare feet. The water temperature can reach 21 degrees in the summer season, it's easy to see the inhabitants of the seabed (algal crab, hermit crabs, starfish, the Amur star, globular sea urchin), since the transparency of the sea is about 30 meters.
The Lazovsky Reserve started to aquire its magic status back in those days when the territory included not only the unique singing bay of Primorye, but also the magical, full of mysteries, Petrov Island.
Here, tourists can visit the only island yew grove in the Russian Far East. The route entitled Secrets of the Petrov Island will allow tourists to see the untouched nature of the island, which was considered the residence of the princes of the ancient Bohai state that had sunk into oblivion. The island itself is endless mysteries and secrets, where unbelievably twisted yews form hieroglyphs, the meaning of which is not fully discovered. One needs to obtain the blessing of the island, since sometimes, by chance or because of the weather, the island might not let visitors in. An interesting thing is that people are still making guesses about the origin of the yew grove on the island. And what about the spring, the water from which, according to the beliefs, one should drink only using lips, without touching it with hands. The result is a wish that would be fulfilled.
Tourists also should visit the highest point of the island. This place has its own mystical secret. By the will of fate, two loving hearts could not be together because of disagreement between their parents, the hostile tribes. Then the young man and the girl fled from the families to the Petrov Island. Eventually, they were found, and as a token of true love, the man picked up his beloved and started carrying her to the very top along a sheer rock. Then, everyone understood that it was impossible to resist such a strong feeling and they left them alone. The beloved had lived many happy years right on the Petrov Island.
Wherever the visitor's casual glance falls, they will see the island's yew that are woven together, acquiring incredible tangles under the influence of the winds. And only one tree silently observes all those coming in the mysterious place. According to ancient legends, a shaman lives here, whose features are clearly discernible on the bark. Many years ago, he was left here by the Bohai to protect the island, but when people came, he hid from them in a tree. He still carefully watches everything, despite the fact that people can only see his face.
Each rock is a legend in the reserve, each twisted yew is a hieroglyph, an unsolved mystery, a spring is a place of inspiration and strength.
Particularly, it's necessary to mention the magic property and attraction of the Dragon Park. Everyone who visits the Lazovsky Reserve, considers it their duty to visit this complex of unique rock structures. Here, on its peaks and slopes are placed gigantic stones, most of which strongly resemble sculptures of bizarre dragons and people.
Stone gates meet the people, and if you look into the distance, you can see a series of huge, majestic stones behind them. There are also young dragons here, with raised tail reaching 5 meters in height. Dragons with spines, with bowl-pots beneath them. It's possible to trace human traits in some rocks. The park is headed by the main Great Dragon: The distance from his head to the tail can be covered in about an hour.
If you look closely at the outlines of the face of the dragon, it immediately seems that not nature alone has created this masterpiece. The eyes, head and thorns on the tail are fashioned precisely, as if from life. The images of people on the rocks that appear there add some mysticism as well. The needed conditions are a certain light and time of day. In addition, «dragon eggs» in size from 4 to 6 meters are scattered or perhaps laid in a specially established order earlier throughout the territory.
A group of scientists, that once conducted their research here, determined the material of the monuments, it's homogeneous, sometimes corroded, granite. And again, there is no unified theory, only unsolved mysteries without an answer.
There are many strange prints on the rocks in the Dragon Park. For example, there is a clear imprint that resembles a footprint of a giant man on an ordinary boulder (the size of the «footprint» is more than 1.5 meters). Along with this, scientists put forward their own version: no ancient giants were stomping these stones and these are not traces of aliens. Despite this, it is difficult to imagine that the print actually appeared naturally, due to the weathering of less dense rocks.
In the Lazovsky Reserve, everything is created by nature, and we should express our gratitude for the objects that are there to nature alone. It's simple and easy to feel the power, strength and incredible greatness in Primorsky Krai. It is enough to come to this place and carefully examine its surroundings and sights.
