From all Oriental churches existing in Yakutsk only one church has kept the original form and volumes. Such unusual circumstance to the Soviet city was explained by the fact that in church was placed the party archive of the regional organization CPSU.
According to the offer and insistance of the local historian I. D. Arkhipov, the church building in 1976 has been included in the list of monuments of architecture of the republic. St. Nicholas Church which wooden building has been built in 1718 is considered one of the oldest in the city.
Now that place where this church has been located can be specified only approximately. The wooden temple in the name of Nicholas The Wonderworker placed approximately on the site occupied with the gym of the Yakut scientific center of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Science. It is known that at the beginning of the 1720th years priest Alexey Stepanov leaded a church service.
