The State Tretyakov Gallery on Krymsky Val is included into the All-Russia Museum Union “State Tretyakov Gallery”. Permanent exposition of the national art of XX century is located in the building on Krymsky Val. Works of the world famous artists of 1900-1920th of Russian avant-guard (K. S. Malevich, V. V. Kandinsky, M. Z. Chagall, P. N. Filonov and L. S. Popova) are followed by works of social realism of 1930th-1950th. Creative works of “severe style” artists of 1960th are displayed in parallel with art of “underground” representatives which has laid foundation for the “second wave” of Russian avant-guard. Finalizing part of the exposition, where works of 1980-1990th are represented, has essentially open character – the Tretyakov gallery is ready to replenish its collection with the most new and up-to-date works of domestic artists. Exhibitions of classical and modern art, domestic and foreign artists, are regularly organized in the Gallery halls on Krymsky Val. Since 2002 Children's Creative Workshop has existed in the Tretyakov Gallery on Krymsky Val.
