The Museum of Private Collections included into the structure of Pushkin State Museum of Arts was opened to public on 24 January 1994. It was idea of Ilya Zilbershtein (1905-1988) famous Moscow collector and critic to create the museum. Today museum collection has about 7 thousand artworks of Russian and West European art of ХV-ХХ centuries. These are paintings, drawings, sculptures, applied art and photos. Collections of Russian realistic painting of the second half of XIX century S. V. Solovyov, Russian painting at the turn of ХIХ-ХХ centuries A. N. Ramm, animalistic small-scale sculpture and artists of ХIХ century E. Y. Stepanov, art glass of Ф. V. and E. P. Lemkul, collection of theater and decoration drawings of the beginning of XX century Nikita and Nina Lobanov-Rostovky and drawings of Alexander Benua from collection of S. V. Papkov are presented in the museum. I. S. Zilbershtein, museum founder, donated to the state more than 2 thousand artworks of paintings and drawings. Museum represents for its visitors collections which were created during several generations of Russian families. One more exposition component of the Museum of Private Collections is creative heritage of outstanding artists of XX century namely Alexander Rodchenko and Varvara Stepanova, David Shternberg, Georgy and Orest Vereisky, Vladimir Weisberg and Alexander Tyshler.
