Holy Spring in Tashla

The Village of Tashla is the site of the Holy Spring of the Miracle-Woking Icon of the Holy Mother, the “Reliever of Woe,” widely known in Russia and abroad as a place of pilgrimage. It is thought that the waters of the spring possess special healing powers. The appearance of the holy spring is associated with a fascinating incident that occurred in October of 1917. According to eye-witness accounts, it was here that an icon of the Holy Mother was discovered, with the spring flowing beneath it. The spring immediately began to draw the afflicted (and not just Orthodox believers, but people of other religions as well). Today, the “Reliever of Woe” icon is kept in the Holy Trinity Cathedral located nearby. The spring now features a chapel, well and baptismal font.
