Sochi is the most stretched city in Russia. It is more than 145 kilometers long. People call it the summer capital due to the developed beaches that lie along the Black sea coast. Besides it’s also a mountain skiing capital because the city is enclosed by the mountain range that attracts skiers and snowboarders from all over the country from autumn till spring.
The urban complex of Big Sochi is divided into four districts: Adlersky, Hostinsky, Central and Lazarevsky. More than 400 thousand people live here.
This is one of the largest culture and economic centers of Russia. Several years ago the magazine Forbes declared Sochi the best city for business dealing in the country.
Sochi is the only city in the Russian Federation that lies in the moist subtropical zone — practically without climate winter (except mountain districts). Nevertheless, in 2014 Sochi became the Capital city of the Winter Olympic Games. The average air temperature in summer — 26,5ºC, the sea warms up to 24,5º C.
