Zabaykalsky Krai is famous for its unique nature and mineral springs, of which only the Caucasus Region has more. The skies are nearly always clear: only Sochi has more sunny days per year than Chita.
Visitors come to Zabaykalsky Krai to enjoy its natural beauty, to see the unique Chara Sands surrounded by the leafy taiga and to relax in health resorts with Baikal's mineral waters that can cure many illnesses.

The Decembrists' Church Museum that opened in 1985 in the wooden building of the Old-Chita Michael the Archangel church is, probably, one of the city's main attractions. The Decembrists Ivan Annenkov and Pauline Gueble, Dimitri Zavalishin and Appolinaria Smolyaninova were married in this church. There are more than 870 exhibits. The museum collection includes: books that belonged to the Decembrists, works published during their lifetime, original relics (for example, Nikolay Bestuzhev's watch and Maria Volkonskaya's jewel-box), items from everyday life and exile, works of fine arts (originals and copies of works by Bestuzhev, Repin, and many others). The museum holds Decembrist evenings and publishes catalogs and booklets.
Chita hosts numerous festivals every year that attract visitors. One of the most popular festivals for Chita residents and visitors is the fascinating Semeyskaya Krugovaya Festival celebrating the culture of the Semeyskie Old Believers.

In the north east of Transbaykal you can find monuments of Buryat national culture—Aginsky datsan and Tsugolsky datsan. Visitors can rest their soul and body in Alkhanay National Park. This is the only place in Russia where unique natural monuments and sacred Buddhist sites live in harmony. Alkhanay is considered to be one the most revered natural Buddhist holy sites in the world.
