Bashkortostan has endless steppe, soft Aksakov Ural landscapes, the water kingdom of the lower reaches of the Agidel River and the gentle songs of the Quray – the national Bashkir musical instrument. This is the only place in Russia where the wild-hive beekeeping tradition is still practiced. Tourists are attracted by the majestic Ural Mountains, crystal clear rivers and lakes praised in ancient Bashkir epics, as well as mountain skiing resorts.
The Republic has about 300 karst caves, 600 rivers, 800 lakes, numerous mountain peaks, 3 state nature reserves and a national nature park. Bashkortostan is a multinational region inhabited by more than 100 nationalities, which is reflected in the vast number of cultural, historical and natural places of interest: more than 4,000 historical, artistic, cultural and archaeological monuments, 12 state theatres and 97 museums storing more than 450,000 exhibits.
Bashkortostan is beautiful and surprisingly varied. The main magnet attracting tourists to Bashkiria fr om all corners of Russia and abroad is the ancient Ural Mountains. Its majestic mountains, crystal clear rivers and lakes, and underground caves are praised in ancient Bashkir epics and modern tourist songs.
Salawat Yulayev is a national hero, an associate of Yemelyan Pugachev, and has been immortalized in the republic's coat of arms, as well as in the names of streets and the Ufa hockey club.
The largest mountain ski resorts in Bashkortostan are: Abzakovo, Bannoye, Mratkino, Pavlovsky Park, Uyazy-tau, Kandry-kul and Kush-tau, and take in up to 800,000 visitors.
The republic's residents and guests visit in great numbers the nature parks of Kandry-kul, Muradymovskoe Gorge, Asly-kul and Iremel.
Bashkortostan is home to untold riches: numerous therapeutic springs, mixed forests, unique and effective climatology for visitors, the surprising effect of geothermal natural gases, as well as silt and sapropelic muds. Without leaving the Republic, you can receive treatment for almost any type of illness. The Krasnousolsk health resort rehabilitates Russian cosmonauts after a flight, while the Yangan-Tau health resort has been rewarded over several years with the title of the best health resort in the country.
The Republic of Bashkortostan has wonderful nature, diverse landscapes, clean air and water, and sincere people who have retained their national traditions and crafts. This is also one of the few places wh ere Islam spread into Eurasia. Among the peoples of the Urals and Volga, Central Asia is famous as the home of heroes, leading historical figures, religious scholars and holy men and women.
